Peer Mentoring Project
According to the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation, mentoring is:
A voluntary, mutually beneficial and purposeful relationship in which an individual gives time to support another to enable them to make changes in their life
– See more at:
Peer mentoring is characterised by the fact the mentor has been through similar experiences to the mentee (an ‘expert by experience’) and is now living positively and willing to share the benefit of those experiences in a constructive and organised way.
This project provides voluntary opportunities for young people aged 14-19 and adults who would like to use their experiences and develop their skills to support others in similar circumstances. A full volunteer training and support programme is provided by IYC.
